City of Houston Offers Adult Sport Leagues

Do you want the excitement of a little competition? Are you sick of staying active with the same old gym routine? Do you want a fun way to make new friends across Houston?

The City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department holds organized adult sports leagues at parks across the city year-round. These are affordable to participate in and you can choose from a wide selection of your favorite sports.

Activities that currently have open registration during the Spring and Summer sessions are softball, basketball, kickball, and volleyball.

Alamo Drafthouse to Show Free Outdoor Family Film Series

Attention all Goonies, Ghostbusters, and Willy Wonka lovers! A free outdoor family movie series begins Friday, April 27 and runs through June.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and Whole Foods Market team up to show classic movies the whole family will enjoy. Every other Friday starting around dusk, a movie will be shown at the Montrose Whole Foods parking lot.

The movie series lineup is:

Museum Marks Titanic’s 100th Anniversary with Ship's Artifacts

This weekend marks the 100th anniversary of the most famous maritime tragedy in history- when the RMS Titanic struck an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean and sank to the seabed, ending more than 1,500 lives. The saga of the Titanic has captured the world’s imagination since that day.

Mark the anniversary by viewing hundreds of artifacts retrieved from the ship itself at Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition at the Houston Museum of Natural Science running now through September 3.

And the population just keeps on growing: Houston is ranked the No. 1 destination for relocation in the United States for the third year in a row, according to a report by U-Haul International Inc.
