It has become common knowledge that Houston is the place to find a job, but a recent ranking by employer-stalking site Glassdoor.com proves that this is also the place to find a job that you actually like.

The Bayou City makes a strong showing on the site's 50 Best Places to Work, with the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center at No. 5 on the list — just a few spots beneath the top-rated Facebook, where there are essentially no rules and employee perks overfloweth, and a spot above Google, whose offices are basically like an adult playground.

Houston Home Sales Surge to Record-Breaking Levels

October was a record-breaking month for Houston real estate as property sales rose 35 percent over October 2011, according to the Houston Association of Realtors.

Prices rose significantly and the inventory of homes for sale dropped to its lowest level in 11 years. The realty market is demonstrating an exceptional surge that is surprising veteran real estate pros.

More than 5,000 runners, volunteers, sponsors, individuals, children, and families, at all fitness levels (and many sporting holiday costumes), will make their way through the streets of Downtown Houston on December 9, 2012. Race time is 1:00 pm and the event benefits the Tellepsen Family Downtown YMCA Partners Campaign
