City of Houston Offers Adult Sport Leagues

Do you want the excitement of a little competition? Are you sick of staying active with the same old gym routine? Do you want a fun way to make new friends across Houston?
The City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department holds organized adult sports leagues at parks across the city year-round. These are affordable to participate in and you can choose from a wide selection of your favorite sports.
Activities that currently have open registration during the Spring and Summer sessions are softball, basketball, kickball, and volleyball.
These leagues are great ways to get active and make friends, even if you’ve never played a sport in your life. Leagues are divided up into multiple ability levels from beginner up to intermediate and advanced. In beginners divisions you will never feel embarrassed if you haven’t served a volleyball since high school gym class. And if you routinely hit softballs over the fence you can join a more advanced division to see how you compete against other all-stars.
You can register a full team, or just you and a few friends, or sign up all by yourself. The Recreation Department can assign you as a free agent to a team as a great way to meet new people.
Depending on your schedule you can usually sign up to play any night or two nights of the week.
Leagues are open to adults age 18 and up.
Registration fees vary by sport.
