Commercial development on rise along Fry Road corridor in Cypress

Six months after opening two other Cy-Fair locations, H-E-B has purchased a 15-acre parcel of land in the future mixed-use Cypress Creek Town Center. Located at the corner of Tuckerton and Fry roads, the 90-acre development will feature commercial and retail options when construction begins on the project in the coming years.
Although there is not yet a timetable for the future H-E-B, the purchase was prompted by the area’s continued population growth and density, said Cyndy Garza, public affairs director for H-E-B.

Cypress Creek Lakes Announces Retail and Commercial Expansion

Mischer Development, developer of the 1600-acre master-planned Cypress Creek Lakes community, has recently started commercial and retail expansion on several reserves within the 1600 acre development. Cypress Creek Lakes is located in the US 290 corridor south of Cypress Creek on the east side of Fry Road. H-E-B purchased 15 acres on the northeast corner of Tuckerton and Fry Road. This parcel of land is within the 90 acre mixed use reserve that will be known as the Cypress Creek Lakes Town Center.

Houston Home Sales Soar

Houston’s housing market began 2013 with its 20th consecutive month of positive home sales, which increased nearly 30 percent year over year, the Houston Association of Realtors reported last month.
In January, single-family home sales totaled 3,899, up 28.3 percent from January 2012. Sales of all property types totaled 4,680, up 29.1 percent from a year ago.

Moody Foundation gives $20M for Rice's new arts center

With a $20 million award from the Moody Foundation, Rice University plans to build a new Center for the Arts.
Rice said Tuesday that plans for the 50,000-square-foot Moody Center for the Arts are currently in the predesign phase. The building will be constructed near Rice’s current arts and media center and is expected to open in 2015.

Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Opens New Tower

Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital is rolling out the opening of its seven-story, $80 million patient tower, with plans to open new units over the next few years.
The 240,000-square-foot expansion was completed in November and added eight additional surgical suites and surgical support services. Four floors are available for build-out projects.

Houston and three other top Texas markets are expected to hit population milestones this month.
A milestone is defined as any population that ends with at least four zeros, and the Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown metropolitan statistical area’s population is expected to hit an even 6.29 million on Jan. 25, according to a Business Journals’ On Numbers analysis.
